Giải Thưởng và Thể lệ cuộc thi MECA 2026
1. Purpose of the Competition
● To provide students with opportunities to access and master modern Factory Automation equipment under the Mitsubishi Electric brand (PLC, Industrial Display/HMI, Inverter, Servo, etc.).
● To encourage students to apply professional knowledge to real-world projects, while developing soft skills and creative thinking.
● To promote networking and knowledge exchange among students from 15 participating universities nationwide.
● To contribute to improving the quality of education in Automation Engineering and to promote Mitsubishi Electric’s advanced automation technologies in Vietnam.
2. Eligible Participants
Students who are currently enrolled (not yet graduated) at the following 15 universities:
● Northern Vietnam:
Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), University of Transport and Communications (UTC), Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI), Thai Nguyen University of Technology (TNUT), Hung Yen University of Technology and Education (UTEHY), Thuy Loi University (TLU).
● Central Vietnam:
University of Science and Technology – The University of Danang (UDN-DUT), University of Technical Education – The University of Danang (UDN-UTE).
- ● Southern Vietnam:
Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE), Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH), Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT), Can Tho University (CTU), Tra Vinh University (TVU).
3. Competition Format
The competition consists of two rounds:
● University Round (Preliminary Round):
Each university organizes its own round with a maximum of 10 teams per university.
Each university selects 01 outstanding team to represent the school in the national final.
● National Final Round:
15 teams representing 15 universities compete at the national level.
Host institution: Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH).
Tentative dates: 10–11 July 2026.
The First Prize team will represent Vietnam at the Global MECA Competition
(tentatively 30 August – 2 September 2026 in Japan).
4. Participation Requirements
● Each team consists of 02–04 students and 01 academic advisor.
● Teams must design and build a physical model using Mitsubishi Electric Factory Automation equipment, meeting at least one of the following criteria:
1. Improvement of current production conditions.
2. Support for social development.
3. Contribution to sustainable development.
● The total cost of model construction (excluding Mitsubishi Electric equipment) must not exceed VND 50,000,000.
● Maximum model dimensions: 1.6 m × 2 m × 4 m (W × H × L), maximum weight 400 kg.
5. Nội dung nộp bài vòng chung kết
● 01 Project Video
(maximum duration: 10 minutes, spoken language: Vietnamese, English subtitles, MP4 format)
○ Part 1 (First 5 minutes):
Machine operation and introduction of the equipment used.
○ Part 2 (Last 5 minutes):
In-depth technical explanation highlighting advanced features and academic aspects of the project
● 01 PowerPoint Presentation File
(oral presentation in Vietnamese, maximum 10 minutes; slides in English, using the official Mitsubishi Electric template)
○ Project overview (background, objectives, uniqueness).
○ Required resources (manpower, equipment, materials, etc.) and detailed system design drawings.
○ Expected outcomes.
○ Practical business application ideas (assumed revenue, costs, risk management).
○ Detailed explanation of Mitsubishi Electric FA equipment used (selection rationale based on specifications).
○ Challenges encountered during implementation and model construction.
○ Proposed improvements for Mitsubishi Electric FA products.
Additional Requirements for the Vietnam Representative Team (National First Prize)
● 01 Team Introduction Video
(maximum duration: 03 minutes, spoken language and subtitles in English, MP4 format)
○ Introduction of Vietnam, the university, and team members.
○ The video will be shown before the main presentation at the Global MECA Competition to help international audiences and judges better understand the Vietnamese team’s identity and uniqueness.
6. Award Structure
● 01 First Prize:
MECA Championship Trophy, Certificate, VND 15,000,000 + Vietnam’s representative at the Global MECA Competition.
● 02 Second Prizes:
Commemorative Medal, Certificate, VND 7,000,000 per prize.
● 03 Third Prizes:
Commemorative Medal, Certificate, VND 5,000,000 per prize.
● 09 Consolation Prizes:
Certificate, VND 3,000,000 per prize.
7. Support from the Organizing Committee
● Free provision of Mitsubishi Electric equipment (PLC, Industrial Display/HMI, Inverter, Servo, etc.).
● Financial support for model construction and travel, accommodation expenses for teams participating in the national final.
● Technical support from Mitsubishi Electric Vietnam and the host university.
● Participation certificates for all members.
8. Tentative Schedule
● University Rounds: December 2025 – March 2026.
● National Final Round: 10–11 July 2026 at Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City.
● Global MECA Competition: 30 August – 2 September 2026 in Japan.
9. Other Regulations
For situations not specified in these regulations, participating teams must comply with decisions made by the Organizing Committee.

Any changes to the competition regulations or support policies will be officially announced via the MECA website and other communication channels deemed appropriate by the Organizing Committee.
● All participating students and teams must comply with guidance from the Organizing Committee and promptly report any issues.
● After the competition, teams must return all completed models and provided equipment to the Organizing Committee.
● Travel and meal expenses are not covered during the competition, except in special cases decided by the Organizing Committee.
● During the national final, partial support for travel, accommodation, and equipment transportation will be provided for teams from universities outside Can Tho City.
